Better English Writing
Do you want to be a better writer?
Yes! We are all writers!
- We do not all write books – but we all write emails! Are your emails clear and effective?
- Are your reports at work clear and effective?
- Do you have trouble with essays and application for jobs or college?
- Are you worried when you must write a note to your child’s teacher at school?
- Don’t forget your text messages on your phone! That also is writing!
The real question is: Does your writing express your thoughts and ideas? Does it achieve the results you want?
Improve your English writing with a New York Times editor!

For over 20 years at The New York Times, I showed some of the finest writers in the world how to improve their work. I will do the same with you!
Zoom is the perfect platform for our expert writing lessons because we can both look at the same text at the same time.
At Beautiful American English, our Writing Lessons are for both English learners and native English speakers.
Some students come to our English Writing Lessons to improve a specific piece of writing. Others come to learn the basics of good English writing.
If you have a piece of writing that needs help, we will work on that.
If you do not, I will give you exercises that will teach you the fundamentals of good English writing. If you simply need a document, speech or some other piece of writing, our Writing Services will write it for you!
If you are preparing for an exam with essay questions, we will use the same time limits that you will have on the test.
Whatever you need, we will teach it! You will become a better writer – in English and in your native language as well!
At Beautiful American English,
we will improve your writing on two levels
First, there is the English itself
Are you making grammar mistakes? Grammar issues show up very clearly in writing. At Beautiful American English, every mistake is an opportunity – an opportunity to learn something. We have simple ways of making grammar clear so it will never be a mystery again!
How is your vocabulary? Do you understand the meaning of the words you are using? Are you sure about using them correctly? Do you know the differences between two words that the dictionary says mean “the same thing”? The great American writer Mark Twain used to say – humorously, but truly: “If it meant the same thing, they wouldn’t have two words for it.”
We will also talk about punctuation. Punctuation marks (periods, commas, dashes) are the “sign posts” that make a piece of writing clear.
Then there is the writing part
Then we will work on the content of your writing. This part will make you a better writer in any language!
We examine your ideas. Are they clear? Are they in a logical order? Is your writing interesting? Are you saying everything you want to say? How are your transitions between ideas? Does the whole piece of writing flow smoothly?
At Beautiful American English, we are artists of the English language. We will make you an artist, too!
Christopher’s Golden Tips for Writers
The best English is the most simple English. You will always sound good with simple, short sentences. The best English is the clearest English. There is no need for long, complicated sentences.
If you find it difficult to write an essay, use The Christopher Method! If you find it hard to start at the beginning – don’t start at the beginning!
Do this instead:
THE CHRISTOPHER METHOD OF ESSAY WRITING
- Make a list of all your ideas in any order they come into your head. Do not write them out fully. Just write two or three words to remind you.
- If you wrote your ideas on a computer, print it out.
- With a scissors, cut out the ideas so you have little pieces of paper.
- Arrange those ideas in the order you want.
- Write two or three sentences about each idea (more if you need to).
- Put them together in the right order, add some transitions – and you have your essay.
