I will to listen to your English and learn your goals in the language. Then I design a personal plan of study just for you.
Lessons for Every Level
If you are a Beginner (maybe you just moved to the U.S. to join your family), I promise you will start speaking in your first lesson. Again, that is a promise. Do you like puzzles? A new language is really just a puzzle. You learn it piece by piece, step by step. We start with a few simple words. Then we put the words together. Then you have a real English sentence. You will grow from there – but once you say your first English sentence, you are officially an English speaker!
Many Intermediate students already speak English every day, but they want to increase their fluency. Maybe you just “picked up” English, but you never really studied it. Perhaps you want to advance in your career, make more friends, help your children in school and express yourself better. We will analyze your problems in English – and we will target them. You will grow in ability and in confidence. Speaking English will be something that you enjoy every day!
Advanced students already function well in English. Their English is “good,” but they want it to be “great.” They want to polish. They want to communicate on the highest expert level. They realize that great English is the key to professional success in the U.S. . It is also the key to making friends that you can relax with and really express yourself fully. Many of our students love the English language for its beauty and expressiveness and they want to do a “deep dive” into its subtleties.
Christopher’s Three ‘Golden Tips’ for Fluency in English
Christopher’s THREE ‘Golden Tips’ for Fluency in English
(1) Speak, speak, speak. Then, speak some more! The way to learn to speak is by… SPEAKING!
Never be shy or embarrassed because your English is not “good enough.” America is a mix of people from all over the world. If you sound like a foreigner trying your best in a new language – that is exactly what you are! That is an excellent and an honorable thing to be.
Do not worry about your mistakes. We will fix those mistakes in your lessons. The most important thing is this: The more you speak, the more natural it becomes. If you hear words or expressions you do not understand, write them down and bring them to your next English lesson!
(2) Talk to yourself in English! There are always words in our head as we are walking down the street or sitting at home. Switch that internal dialogue into English. Explain to yourself what you are seeing. Repeat to yourself stories you hear on the news.
Here’s a story: I once knew an old German man who was a teenager before World War II. When he escaped from Germany to England, his English was good enough to find a job. I asked him how he knew English. He said he knew war was coming. So he began to talk to himself only in English. When he arrived in England, he spoke fluently. You can do that, too.
(3) Your family and your friends are probably from your home country, right?
Make a deal with them. Two days a week, you will speak together only in English. Yes, it will seem strange at first! But I promise it will be a miracle for your English.
